March 26, 2011 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Located at Meadowlark Apartments in Montrose (where normal guild meeting is held) Cost is $45

The class will begin by reviewing some of the techniques we learned  in my earlier class. We will then focus on using techniques that can make your weaving quite unique, even in non tapestry weaving. Some of  the weft-faced techniques we will be learning are- circles and ovals,  brocade, advanced hatching, interesting interlocking, and finishing touches. 

Bring a portable loom - could be just a frame. Please warp for single  weave. Bring whatever yarn you have. We can use smaller amounts than with multi-harness weaving. I'll bring some extra yarn as well. Bring a sack lunch - we'll have coffee and tea available. Please call Joy Beeson at 970-856-8854 with questions or to sign up for the class. Minimum of 5 people. You can pay for the class at the Guild Meeting on March 19. We'll have lots of fun creating colorful  little tapestries.

The Seagrass Basket Class will be taught by Sandy Martin.  In this class, you will learn to make a small, basic, twined basket.

The material we will be using is seagrass.  Seagrass is a grass-like natural fiber that is twisted into a continuous length.  It is convenient to use as it does not need to be kept damp as many other basketry materials do, however, it is sometimes difficult at first to learn to manipulate. 

 The class will be held in the afternoon, from 1- 4 pm on April 16^th, after our regular meeting at  Meadowlark Apts.  The cost will be $20.00, which includes the materials fee.   There will be a maximum of 10 students in the class.
