2011 Programs

At each meeting, a program is planned for the education, enlightenment and entertainment of our members and their guests. Following is a list of the programs for the year. The Guild's "year" is defined as September through May. We do not have meetings during the summer, although we might plan a fiber retreat or some other get-together informally.

Guests are welcome to come to all of our general meetings. Children are welcomed too, but if they are not interested in fiber arts then please bring a quiet activity for them to do while we conduct our meeting. We serve snacks!

March Meeting: Tapestry Class with Joy Beeson

On March 26th, Joy Beeson taught a fun tapestry weaving class to Guild members.  The class began by reviewing some of the techniques weavers learned in Joy's previous class. The focus was then on using techniques that make a weaving quite unique, even in non tapestry weaving. Some of  the weft-faced techniques we learned were circles and ovals,  brocade, advanced hatching, interesting interlocking, and finishing touches.  The students brought a portable loom warped for single weave along with whatever yarn they had. It was unanimously agreed that the group had a wonderful time creating colorful  little tapestries.
